Here's a personal fact you may or may not know about me. I kill plants. Not on purpose of course, but it happens. It's not that I don't love vegetation, I just don't have a knack for keeping plants alive happy.
I received a cute little plant last spring that I've kept on my window sill near my kitchen sink. Lo and behold, it's still alive and kicking. I decided it deserved a beautiful and roomy pot to live in...
I love that this label from The Graphics Fairy is wine themed. Don't you?
In answer to your question, no, I don't have the slightest clue what I was thinking here. This vessel was painted this way years ago. I think this was the beginning of a long forgotten project. Luckily I kept it.
This is how it looked after three coats of gesso. I was going to add a coat of satin white acrylic, but I liked the roughness the gesso left, so I skipped the paint.
I printed the label onto white tissue paper (that was taped to a piece of card stock). After trimming it, I applied a coat of Mod Podge to the pot and smoothed it out.
And there she is, back at home near my kitchen sink. Long live my plant!

ReplyDeleteI l.o.v.e. your "new" planter! I think your plants will thrive now....
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of painted terra cotta pots. In fact, I just made a tiered planter using three pots. I haven't even had a chance to post it on my blog yet, but will during the week.
