Lots and lots of patience.
I would like to extend kudos to all of the talented people out there who have created wreaths. You made it look completely effortless, and you inspired me to tackle my own wreath.
Thanks goodness this project is over! I am very happy with the results, but man did it take a while for my idea to take shape.
I started with this wire wreath form. I knew I wanted to use pages from this dictionary.
First I covered it in newsprint as a base to work on.
Nope. Not so much.
Then, I ripped the newsprint off, and wrapped it in muslin. Nope.
Not feeling it.
Apparently, old dictionary pages are delicious.
I unwrapped the muslin, and walked away from the whole thing. I started to consider the original structure. I took my un-chewed pages and started folding them into fans. I laced them through the wire all the way around the wreath.
Hey...I missed those.
I went back around to add more to give it some volume.
When I was happy with the fullness of the wreath, I added some decorative trim on top of the green wire.
I am so thrilled with how it came out. I am doubly thrilled that I can move on to another project!
What do you think?

Nom nom nom. Glad you were able to rescue the dictionary pages because this turned out fabulous! I have had those projects where you know what you want the end result to be but it's heck getting there. This is SUPER!

What a beautiful wreath! It is by far my favorite out of ALL the ones I've seen on the internet. I am thinking of making one using photocopies of love letters from my husband during each of his deployments. Thanks for the incredible inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThis is just amazing Christine!! Love it, great job girl!!

Christine, your wreath turned out beautifully. Despite the false starts, your end result is a new take on the classic book wreath. I love how you tackled the project and made it your own. The trim is the perfect complement to the fanned pages.

Very cute! How did you attach the pages on the front to cover the frame?
