...in my house, it seems. When looking at these pictures, please keep in mind that we just went food shopping a few days ago.
One of my very favorite things in the world is chalkboard paint. As I type this my daughter is rolling her eyes and shaking her head. The running joke in my house is that nothing is safe from chalkboard paint or Mod Podge. So when I saw this project from Bonnie over at House of Grace, I was delighted to take it on!
I did this door first to see if I would love it, which I did. I used painter's tape to keep it neat, and probably applied four coats of paint. I also found these markers (Chalk Ink) that mimic the look of chalk, without the dust. They wipe off with water, and they don't rub off when my kids come back for more snacks-yikes!
See what I'm saying? I know there are many of you who feel my pain...at least I have paper towels and pancake syrup...and coffee!
This seems to be the popular question in my house lately...
I found a delicious recipe that I will share soon (I really need to make it in double batches).
When you think about it, a pantry door is a great spot to put reminders to feed the other important "people" in your house. Thanks to Bonnie for the final push of motivation to complete this project.

I was just telling my Husband I would be doing this to our pantry door!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds ;)
Love it!!! I'm a chalkboard paint addict myself. Is there a support group for us?

Brilliant! This is a perfect way for the eating machines in my house to write down what we're out of instead of me having to read their minds!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. I'm hosting We're Organized Wednesday till Friday and would love for you to join the party. There's a giveaway also. Hope to see you there. http://organizeyourstuffnow.com

Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteI love your chalkboard doors! Great idea! I love chalkboard paint, too, and just did a post on a frame that I am turning into a chalkboard! Good to hear that those chalkboard markers work well, I need to get one of those! You look so very organized. I need to tackle my pantry one of these days, it's a disaster!
Love your pantry - thanks for commenting about the clothespin labels! Have fun :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I LOVE chalkboard paint and can't wait to schmear it around my new (old) house!
ReplyDeleteThose chalkboard markers are so awesome. I just picked up a pack, and I love them! I like the idea of writing little notes to your kids on the doors!
ReplyDeleteThat really is a great idea. The perfect place for a reminder board!
ReplyDeleteYour doors turned out great and you are right... what better place to leave notes than the pantry doors. Everyone in the family goes to the pantry Ü
ReplyDeleteThey look great!! The markers sound very cool. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to paint and write..perfect! I'm scared to get some of the chalkboard paint...I may be dangerous with it...maybe a little carried away also....but I'm definitely going to get some one day! Thanks for linking up your awesomeness to It's Party Time Thursday @ PonyTails&FishScales!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, I'm sure this would be fab & the kids could even write down stuff to add to the grocery list here as well! Please come link this up to Fabulous Friday!

What a great idea! From the thumbnail, I thought it was a framed chalkboard hanging on your pantry door. This is much more genius!
ReplyDeleteI love your doors!!! How totally clever.
ReplyDeleteI featured you at PonyTails&FishScales It's Party Time Thursday!

What a great idea! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI might have to do this and put those chalk markers to use.
ReplyDeleteThose look fantastic! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI love this!! Where did you find your chalk markers? I hate the dust!
ReplyDeleteOh and I have the same pantry as you and I don't know if the wire shelves drove you as nuts as they drove me, but everything tipped over! I bought some plain white lonoleum for 60 cents/sq ft at Menards and they fit perfectly... it really is a miracle worker :) Just in case you were as irritated as I was!
